Susan Kaufman founded Serafina in 1991. Her mission was simple; build a neighborhood restaurant echoing the welcoming embrace of an Italian home. She not only succeeded in doing so but created a much larger family for her guests and staff. It was this culture of famiglia that drew Chef Christian Chandler to apply to Serafina while in culinary school. Throughout the years, their relationship grew from a mentorship into a friendship, and ultimately, a partnership in 2015, when Christian became co-owner. In 2019 he became sole owner, continuing to foster the Serafina philosophy: offer the freshest, highest quality ingredients, present the food in an honest and inviting way, and provide a warm and soothing ambiance.
